On behalf of San José State University Athletics and the Men’s Golf program, we enthusiastically welcome you to the 72nd Annual Western Intercollegiate, one of the most spectacular championships in all of collegiate golf.

Following its long tradition, the Western Intercollegiate will attract talented players from top colleges and universities, all well-prepared to compete at the ever-challenging Pasatiempo Golf Club on April 7-8 and preceded with a practice round on April 6.

While at “The Western” please take time to enjoy the scenic beauty and attractions the Santa Cruz and Bay Area Regions have to offer. For those of us who are fortunate to call this area “home” we know what an exceptional place it can be, and we look forward to sharing it with you during your stay.

Best of luck to all the players and coaches and I look forward to seeing you soon at the award-winning Pasatiempo Golf Club.

Dear Golf Enthusiasts,

Welcome to Pasatiempo Golf Club! On behalf of the shareholders and staff at Pasatiempo Golf Club, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 72nd Western Intercollegiate Golf Tournament and College-Am.

As host, it is my hope that each player, coach, and spectator will have a chance to enjoy our historically-significant course and all that it has to offer while also discovering the charm of the Santa Cruz coastal region.

This championship has established its success based on the finest traditions of the game and continues to do so, leaving lasting impressions on all who seek the coveted title. I competed in more than one “Western” during my tenure at San Jose State University long before becoming a General Manager at this classic Alister MacKenzie-designed course.

Whether you are a collegiate player or a spectator during the 2018 Western Intercollegiate, feel free to reach out to our staff with any concerns or needs you may have, as we want your experience at Pasatiempo to be an enjoyable one.

  1. Advice is any counsel or suggestion which could influence a player in determining his play, the choice of a club or the method of making a stroke. In addition, any conversation between player/spectator may be construed as advice. This includes any conversation between player/spectator in their native language. In either instance, penalty for breach of this rule is two strokes. Players are responsible for the actions of relatives and spectators in regards to this rule.
  2. Keeping the above statement in mind, please keep your conversation with the player to words of encouragement
  3. Please turn off all cell phones.
  4. Spectators should stay on cart paths. In the absence of cart paths, we ask that spectators stay in the rough. Please stay off fairways, tees and greens.
